Her original name is Reema Lamba. She has graduated in Philosophy from Miranda House, Delhi University. She has used her mother's maiden name as a tribute to her mother's love and support. Mallika Sherawat was an airhostess initially. She married and divorced Captain Karan Singh Gill, a Jet Airways Pilot.
Mallika Sherawat cemented her reputation as a Bollywood sexpot in 2004 with the release of Murder, which cast the actress as a married woman who embarks upon an illicit affair that leads to disastrous consequences. The film, essentially a remake of the 2002 Richard Gere and Diane Lane film Unfaithful, proved that Mallika Sherawat had no qualms about showing plenty of skin on the big screen.
